English was cancelled, teacher was sick. It was great and yet, man I got up to go to class, walk in the cold, and just have to go back to bed. Classes and work going well. The winter drumline class thing is starting Tuesday, I'm excited. I'm really working hard on this. I watched Dodgeball yesterday, classic. We'll see how the going to the gym works out.
Peace out, Andrew

Classes going fine. Nothing really too hard. Nothing too easy. Practicing more quads, taking about 20 minutes a day, just eighth notes for 10 minutes each hand trying to build stamina. Work is good, I've been selling a lot which is cool. Hopefully I'll beat my goal again this month.
Peace out, Andrew

Delayed opening at 9, so no English at 8am. Sleeping in was nice. Got a voicemail from brother Joe, mad that I was sleeping in. Boo-hoo to you too.
Musicianship and Symphonic Band followed by work, a normal day just without English which is nice.
Peace out, Andrew

Classes are chugging along. I've only gotten 2 grades back, both are A+ from sight singing. I mean I'd better be good at music. Took a math test, it was pretty easy; however, I was tired so I was like staring at this one problem for like 10 minutes only to realize like the answer was really simple. You know, like the answer was like 2 or something. Snowed like crazy last night. About a foot around here, and the Towson crew went out and snow blowed it away...boo. I'm thinking no chance of a delay for Towson on Monday, but I can hope.
Listening to new albums: Jack Johnson - Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George...awesome Brendan Benson - The Alternative to Love....Cold Hands(Warm Heart) is a nice song

Elegy - Towson University Symphonic Band |
] |
I've gone to all my classes. Here's what I think.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes English 102 - Laid back, fun guy, sounds like John Goodman. Can write our essays in class on laptops. Seems good enough.
Musicianship II - Some changes, going to have to do what's called "sing and play" where I sing, conduct, and play the bass line written out on a piano. And it looks like the singing will be more constant and random. So I have to be ready.
Symphonic Band - Play, play, play, yeah
Tuesday/Thursday classes Math 111 - Seems fair enough, it's like let's do math. yeah...sure
Theory II - Part writing and chordal analysis. This is where I actually am glad for theory.
Piano II - Harder Russian teacher who is hard to understand and all sometimes. She already pushed us to two hand two octave scales. On the first day, we were like woah.
Music 100 - Booooooooooooooo. It's like expected I spent 2 hours on the internet researching music and information. Cool aspect is we will learn the use of Microsoft Frontpage for webpage design. We have to design a webpage with information or something. But it seems rough.
Horn lesson/Masterclass - Still to come, both on Friday. New teacher so it should be good to get some new teaching method.
Ever feel like something's missing? And you just feel like you're forgetting something or blank? Yeah....
Peace out, Andrew

Today wasn't much. I went to work which was non-stop craziness. Usually it's just 12-5 and like we're not busy at all. Today because the door wasn't locked, some people came in before 12 so it was like 11:30-5:15 because we were trying to get everyone taken care of. Plus, we ran out of ones at the end. So I gave someone like a roll of nickels, which is like $2. Then I went to TUMC and just hung out. Saw Luke which was cool. Saw his dad, his dad offered me the chance to teach Luke drums and get a home-cooked meal there. My mom would be jealous if I ate there once a week...haha. But it probably would be like once every so often.

Moved back into Towson today. Got a new room and and a new roommate. Things are looking good for this semester. Claire dumped me, but it's ok. We were at different points in our life. And I can't say like I expected to marry her. So I'm taking that well. And it's the first time we say we want to be friends and I honestly want to work hard to keep us friends. She was cool. So we'll see how that goes. New classes start Monday. It's not too hectic. Space inbetween classes. I bought all my books today except one that's not in stock. So only one more book to get. Only problem is, 8am classes every day of the week. Boo
Peace out, Andrew

Ok so a short entry
Classes going alright, I know I'm doing quite well in Piano and Musicianship. I need to go to more recitals but I work a lot so it's hard to do. Horn recital coming up as well as Scott Engel's recital which I'm playing steel drums at the end.
Claire and I have been together for 9 months...wow...seems so long yet so short. I mean it doesn't feel like 9 months
I've become quite interested in listening to more classical...like the Firebird Suite is nice and Mahler's 5th Symphony.

Friday I saw Claire and we saw Jesus Christ, Superstar. It was pretty good for a church players club. The pit could have used some work. Then we went to Christy's house to watch the Princess Bride and we got brownies. Saturday, I had the football game/band day from 12pm-9pm. It was cool I guess, Towson beat Loch Haven 70-0. Then I went and saw Claire and we just hung out. Yesterday I had work and then I drove down to eat with my parents and saw Claire. Now I'm back to work with the classes.
Peace out, Andrew

Thursday - Theory was ok and boring, Geography was normal, piano was the same as before. We beat Morgan State in football 29-26. There were a lot of fans and I have never seen a crowd get so pumped up by a band. They just wanted to hear the Sportscenter theme. It was awesome.
Friday - Had Musicianship I, then Marching Band was cancelled to give us a break. Went home and saw Claire, then I went to work.
Saturday - Went to work at 8 until like 6:30 then went to hang out with Claire. Went to Remomo's for dinner and just hung out. It was nice.
Sunday - Hanging out all day, ended up seeing 40 Year Old Virgin with Claire. It was awesome, the movie was hilarious. Then we hung out for a bit and drove home.
Monday - Went to Claire's family's cookout. Got to swim, eat, meet, and drive ATVs. They're pretty chill. Hung out with Claire just before I came back to school.
Tuesday - Theory was boring, Geography boring, Piano now is hooked up so Dr. Dillon can talk to us individually or as a group through the headphones. He can also listen to us playing as a group or individually. And we can hear other people talk and play. I'm about to go to Symphonic Band where I'm 3rd chair horn.
Peace out, Andrew

Classes have started. So far, I haven't been to one because it was cancelled. So here's the run-through.
Monday: Musicianship I, simple stuff. Took a test to see if I should be in Musicianship II. Physics 100, a lot of nothing for now. I'll have a term paper. Marching Band, you know. Work, we had a lot of stuff going wrong when we closed, but I think we figured it out.
Tuesday: Theory I cancelled so Marching Band could play for the Governor of Maryland. Geography, a lot of nothing, going to have to do a lot of maps. Piano I, simple stuff, I'll get it no sweat. Symphonic Band cancelled until next week for auditions.
Wednesday: Musicianship I, told to go to room 101 to take the sight singing test to get into Musicianship II. Found out I need to know solfeg, which means I need to take Musicianship I. But they said I had one of the best theory test scores from Monday. Physics, started the lectures. Nothing too major. Marching Band, still to come + the Pep Rally tonight. Work tonight, maybe see Claire?
I've also lost 4 pounds
Peace out, Andrew

I got a wicked bad sunburn today from rehearsal and the concert. But the concert was good and I got to see Claire, my parents, and Bill. We went to Ruby Tuesday and had some good food and just hung out. Tomorrow I start my classes so I'll see how that goes.

today we had a crazy rehearsal trying to finish everything off. Then we played for the freshman. We ran into the gym and the floor was like 3 inches off the ground. So many people fell it was not cool and then the freshman like were leaving as we started playing. Not cool. Then we had an evening rehearsal and it started raining harder and harder but we had to finish. Needless to say we were soaked but we finished. My mellophone broke technically, the valve gets stuck and it's not an oiling problem. They gave me another one to see if that will work.
Peace out, Andrew

Both of my roommates have moved in, I've met one, the one I've talked to. The one I haven't really talked to I still haven't met yet, but he's moved in. I think we'll be fine on space, and it seems pretty decent. Marching band is getting better and better. Our new mellophones came in which is going to be super awesome.
Peace out, Andrew

So today we've basically finished our Pre-Game show, we just need to run the whole thing a few times to get it perfect. We started the sets for our halftime show, it's looking good. Pain is the name of the drills we did with walking across the field (90 yards) with 6 steps to every 5 yards. Of course, don't bend your knees and walk foward with each step forward land on your heel. That's not so bad. Now walk backwards the same way but walk on your tip toes basically. That's hard. It's hard to go backwards because steps are weird but making it 6 steps to 5 yards is no go. I moved my car tonight back to Luke's house and got to talk to him and his parents. That was nice. Bought books today, $420 plus I need 2 more books for Piano class that weren't in stock.
Peace out, Andrew

| Update |
[24 Aug 2005|01:01pm] |
Marching Band is progressing. We've almost finished our Pre-Game show (just one song of it or it's just one song, I don't know yet) We have 3 more stages (one to fix and 2 more to learn) and then we have the whole thing. Today so far has had no playing and I hear that my sectional will have very little playing to save our chops. Man am I glad for that. Hopefully I'll be buying books soon too.
Oh and super exciting, I can't wait to use the Recreation center here, not just because I could use exercise and what not, but they have a rock climbing wall which I can use for free with everything provided and on Tuesday nights they have a kayaking clinic in the pool for free. How cool is that?
Peace out, Andrew

Today in our morning marching band rehearsal, we learned to basically make a figure 8 with marching. of course we face one direction the whole time while our legs are going a different direction. It's tough but I think I'm getting it. We should have our new mellos soon which will be helpful because a lot of valves are stuck or sticking. I met my RA last night, she seems cool. Should be a good year.
Peace out, Andrew
Oh yeah, my section leader calls me flower now because there's an andrew and an andra so because I have worn hawaiian shirts, she calls me flower. but I don't answer to her when she calls me that. so we'll see how long this lasts.

So I moved into Towson. So far, so good. A few minor things, but everything's cozy here. I'm basically settled in. Work and school will be crazy. Plus marching band. It's kinda tough but I think I'm getting it. If not, I'll get it. Today was only the first day. But everything's pretty cool. We get new mellophones so that'll be cool. Plus this year Towson's sponsored by Yamaha, which is awesome.

Went to CONA, it was awesome. I'll try and post pictures later.
Peace out, Andrew
